Dear fellow students
Abraham Lincoln once said: “I walk slowly, but I never walk backwards.”
Admittedly, we often do feel that we are walking backwards.
One of the things we have to learn, and we will learn during our lives, is that a bad day can always get worse and is often followed by a good one.
Sometimes, it just depends on the right amount of luck. Luck that you force by working hard toward the goals you set for yourself.
Well, one of the goals we have set for ourselves is to create a new online AMS student platform. On this website, which from now on we shall call AMSlife, we want to give a voice to the student of the Antwerp Management School.
By the use of articles, videos and picture reports, we want to show the world what you are all capable of. From this team of writers, you can expect at least one daily update concerning everything that has to do with our lives here at AMS. Students will sometimes ask you in the foyer to comment on a story, to take a picture with you. When you have something to share, how seemingly small or big, our team of writers will ask you about it. They will try to persuade you to share it via this platform.
When that moment comes, please do so. Please share.
The succes of this project depends on your willingnes to create a common conversation, together.
The core team of AMSlife is formed by 10 inspiring students. We as well have stories to share. And we start by sharing something from ourselves today. In the form of an inspiring quote, every editor of AMSlife will share with you their motivation to be part of this team.
It is our way to welcome you and to say thank you for being here.
And of course, it is our way to say that we hope you will stay and spend a good amount of your precious time here.
We hope to convince you to do so.

Rosa Parks once said: “memories of our lives, of our works and our deeds will continue in others.” I really hope (and I’m sure we will) that we can inspire others with our stories. That other people will read our stories and remember them when they think back at our amazing time at AMS. That’s the main reason why I joined this great project. I never thought that I would be writing pieces for a website but hey, here I am and I’m enjoying it! I got to meet a wonderful group of people who are really motivated to make this project work. Let’s make it a year to remember!

When the idea of the student platform project was announced, I immediately knew this was something I had to try! It would challenge my leadership, creativity and communication skills and it would (and does!) allow me to stand by my motto: “You don’t know what you can’t do, until you try.”
Isabelle Thys –HRM
Bloggers always inspired me. How they can enrich other people with their vision on life, fashion, food, the world, religion, and so on. Mostly because bloggers are people like you & me, who just want to share their experiences with other people. I hope that we can inspire you through this platform. There’s a lot more to AMS than your own experience. Sharing different views and great moments with each other is a beautiful way to make this year immortal. I have never written a blog before, but now it’s the time to learn and to grab every opportunity you get. Let’s do this.

“Throw your dreams into space like a kite, and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country.” – Anais Nin.
We are all flying our AMS-kite that is dancing in the wind. I am sure for many of us it brings back a new life, new friends, new loves and a new country. AMS is what we chose to grow further both our dreams and ourselves. AMS is what we chose and I love writing for this blog showing everyone the reasons why by sharing my experiences. And I hope that we will all step in to tell our stories about AMS life creating a home full of laughter, adventure and inspiration. A home for us, as well as for everyone that wants to be part of it.
Vera Verschueren – MIM
“Love fiercely and don’t forget to stop along the way to take photos #NeverStop”, Chiara Ferragni introduces herself on Instagram. I think that we, the students at AMS, are here to never stop learning, bonding and enjoying life to the fullest. Pictures capture a moment and keep our memories alive. Posting articles, and of course adding some pictures, about our journey at the Antwerp Management School, will hopefully have a positive impact on everyone reading it, in one way or another. Stay curious and enjoy reading!

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us” This quote comes from the movie Coach Carter.
It’s a sportsmovie about how you can overcome the struggles of life through teamwork, hard work, education and dedication. These four aspects are getting triggered at AMS. When you want to achieve something in life you need to believe in your chances and work for it. During our year at AMS we will learn a lot through our courses, our tasks, but especially through the experiences that we make and that we share with each other. This platform is about sharing those experiences. Everyone should share their story, their passion, their experiences at AMS. Stand in the light and be who you want to be.
Smitha Shastry – MGM
“Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, its about learning to dance in the rain”
As anonymous the source of this quote is, the message is something that we all know yet fail to implement it in our lives. Situations are not difficult or easy, its how you deal with them that makes the difference. In a world like ours, where there is no time to stand and stare, we have too much to complain about. By doing this we miss out the opportunities that life brings along with every different situation. The opportunity to learn, grow, enjoy and evolve. These opportunities are brought by every single task assigned at AMS. Every situation is an experience and there is so much to learn from them. Being optimistic and tackling every situation with a big smile can surprisingly make any situation into something to cherish. By waiting for these storms to pass, we miss the chance to enjoy the rain. And who knows? At the end of this rain, we might get to see a sparkling sunlight along with a beautiful rainbow.
Maxim Mommerency – MGM
“Any fool can know. The point is to understand.” – Albert Einstein.
There is only one way to learn, and that’s from each other. Sharing moments, dreams, thoughts and ideas are the driving motors of development. Only when contemplating and debating all we take for granted – the big and the small, the important and the casual – we can ready our minds for a deeper level of understanding. We move forward. This is all of us contemplating, and this is all of us sharing. Broadening horizons, one step at a time.
Madeline Elardo – 3CMGM
“In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can.” -Nikos Kazantzakis.
I believe a positive attitude and strong belief in yourself and in your team that you can accomplish a goal is integral to overall success. Not only are the students at AMS encouraged to take this approach to all challenges we are faced with, but the editorial team of AMS life followed this philosophy by believing in the creation of a shared student platform, to accomplish the important goal of bringing all AMS students together. Through a strong belief in AMSlife, we hope to share our experiences to enable students from all programs to learn and grow from each other.
