Humans of AMS: Alexander Tolpe

In my 5 years of studying in Ghent, I didn’t experience anything like this.

    Alexander Tolpe, MIM, Student council

“I still had my master thesis in the first semester, and now I finished that and this is my last year of studying. I would like to engage myself more and get to know as many people as possible. The first semester I only knew people in MIM. I noticed that AMS wasn’t organizing sports activities so now I organized the ping pong tournament and football games to encourage cross program bonding. I really enjoy it. The constant time you have to put into student council is a lot. It seems simple, but there are a lot of things you have to keep in mind; but you balance it and it doesn't take away my joy of AMS. I think a lot of companies like to see that you take initiative during your studies, so I thought this was my last opportunity.”

“I am going to be so sad when AMS is over. Weeks are flying by and we only have one month till the end of exams, and then the consulting project. I will miss being together with the whole group, being busy all the time… Just my room, school, my room. I don’t mind it actually. I will miss the drinks after work, the group works, and all the interesting things that we learned. But I still think there is a lot of time to do things, so I will take advantage of it as much as possible.”
