A throwback snapshot of the student councils' cheese and wine evening

The AMS students who support this students blog are all volunteers. Because of busy schedules it is not always possible to feature everything that is going on at the Antwerp Management School. Now the second term is over for most programs, Easter holidays are coming and we are preparing for our consultancy projects and internships, it feels like this is the right moment to give an overview of 10 beautiful moments of this second semester that did not make our AMSlife blog thus far. We hope this makes clear students are not only busy studying, but also are working hard every day to create an amazing atmosphere for everyone. Enjoy!

  1. A moment of silence for this week’s events in Brussels

Last Wednesday at 12 A.M., all students and staff gathered in the foyer to hold a minute of silence in honour of the victims of Tuesday’s attacks in Brussels. It was a heartfelt moment after which our Dean (who was very touched and emotional) spoke words of sorrow and hope. Since then, a candle is lit in the foyer.

  2. The first AMS students debate

On March the 2nd, the students of the Literary and Public Speaking Club organized the first AMS students debate. In groups of 3, students of different programs challenged each other on a number of topics. It was a wonderful evening with a large audience, a great host and an experted jury. The team of the Master in Management (MIM) brought home the first debating cup.

  3. Events of the AMS Consulting Club

In this second semester, a number of students initiated the AMS Consulting Club. By organizing workshops and guest-speaker events they want to bring students closer to the world of consulting. A great initiative where more than 50 students are engaging in the organized events!

  4. Master of Innovation and Entrepreneurships Food Exchange

Part of AMS master programs is to bring in a social dimension in business activities. That is why the students of the Master of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MIE) organized a Food Exchange. In this project, they tried to give students (and actually people) the opportunity to exchange leftovers (under the motto what is useless for the one, can be useful for the other!) – thank you for all your efforts, MIE-team!

  5. Cross program workshops at AMS

During this year, all students have prepared a workshop concerning the broad perspective of Leadership and Career Development. The 2nd of March, all workshop teams presented their work to other groups resulting in a day filled with creativity and co-creation. Over 20 workshops were given!

  6. Master in Management going to Budapest
Already in the first semester, students of MIM planned this four days citytrip. As they thought this would be a rather quiet period in the year, the weekend of March 3, 4, 5 and 6 would be perfect for this relaxation. Unfortunately it appeared that exams would start the week after. Nevertheless the student group had an amazing time while discovering the city, attending great parties, going to the opera, playing a city game, … the group atmosphere had never been better.

7. Student council events

This second semester, the student council gave their all to make sure all students would continue to get to know each other and enjoy some moments of fun and togetherness despite all the hard work. This team of awesome students organized a cheese and wine evening, a ping pong tournament, football games between all AMS programs, Friday and Sunday evening drinks in some of Antwerps pubs and a great Valentines party where over 50 AMS students were attending: Lovely Fridays Message Pub.

8. AMSlove

The student council and the team that supports this student blog AMSlife worked together to spread the #AMSlove. In the week before Valentine, we together started a poster campaign in all classrooms where we gave the parole to different students. On the posters, they expressed what they found so typical about AMS.

9. Students of Supply Chain Management going to Berlin

In the week of February 22nd, the students of Supply Chain Management went on a three day study field trip to Berlin. As the group of Supply Chain is already very close (they organize birthday parties, dinner evenings, events during weekends, …) Berlin really was an event to always remember.

10. MHRM strikes with attacks of happiness

The student of group worked together with a social organization to launch an event of happiness in the foyer. Goal was to bring students, staff and executives of AMS together. By installing a ball pool in the foyer, they invited people to go in 2 by 2. Once in, you got a card with questions (in different languages) to get the know the person next to you better. They brought a touch of extra happiness to AMS. Thank you!
